EV charger installation in Baldivis.

New estates, modern switchboards, and some of the cleanest and quickest EV installs we do anywhere in Perth.

The install

What a Baldivis install actually looks like

Baldivis is overwhelmingly new. Most homes are post 2010, which means the switchboard is already modern, RCDs are already there, and there are usually spare ways sitting empty. That makes for very clean installs and short days on site.

Garages are attached and the meter box is nearly always a few metres away, so runs are short. In a lot of Baldivis homes the whole job is done in three to four hours from arrival to handover.

The one thing worth checking is whether the builder ran a conduit for a future charger. Plenty of estate builds did. If yours has one, the cable pull is trivial and the install gets even faster.

Solar first

New roofs, strong yields, weak export credits

Almost every Baldivis home we visit has solar and most arrays are unshaded and correctly oriented. The yields are genuinely good. The problem is that the export credit is worth a fraction of what the energy is worth in your own car.

Shift the charging to daylight where the driving pattern allows, and you convert cheap export into free driving. Where the car is out all day, off peak scheduling picks up the slack overnight.

Local considerations

What to know before install day in Baldivis

  • Check whether your builder left an EV conduit. It can shave real time and cost off the install.
  • Some estate homes have the meter box on the far side from the garage. Confirm the run length before comparing quotes.
  • Newer boards are usually fine, but a spare way is not the same as spare capacity. A quick load check is still worth doing.
FAQ

Baldivis EV charging questions

Why are Baldivis installs cheaper than older suburbs?+

Because the hard part is already done. Modern boards, short runs and sometimes a pre run conduit mean less labour and no upgrade work.

Can I install before I take delivery of the car?+

Yes, and it is often smart. The charger works with any Type 2 vehicle, so it is ready the day the car arrives.

Do I need approval from my estate or builder?+

Not usually for a standard install on a completed home. If the house is still under builder warranty, let them know before anything is fixed to the structure.
