You already have three phase
That removes the biggest hurdle. We still check spare capacity, board space and the cable route before setting the charger to 16 amps per phase.
11kW is the practical three-phase speed for many modern EVs. The important part is matching the car, the house and the charger. A 22kW wallbox does not make an 11kW car charge at 22kW.

The first check
Yes, when the property has three-phase power. 11kW uses 16 amps on each phase. Most products capable of this are labelled 22kW because the same hardware can run at up to 32 amps per phase. We commission the unit at the right limit for the supply and vehicle.
That removes the biggest hurdle. We still check spare capacity, board space and the cable route before setting the charger to 16 amps per phase.
The wallbox does not force 11kW into the car. The onboard charger sets the ceiling, and some variants of the same model have different limits.
11kW earns its keep for large batteries, high daily kilometres, two EV households and drivers who need to recharge inside a shorter off-peak window.
Three-phase solar-aware charging can follow export, but a typical rooftop system will not hold 11kW all day. Smart charging blends surplus with a scheduled grid top-up.
Real charge times
These are simple empty-to-full guides before normal charging losses. Most owners top up 10 to 30kWh, not an empty battery. For a 50km commute, 11kW usually replaces the energy in under an hour.
| Battery | At 11kW | At 7kW |
|---|---|---|
| 50kWh | About 4 hr 35 min | About 7 hr 10 min |
| 60kWh | About 5 hr 30 min | About 8 hr 35 min |
| 77kWh | About 7 hours | About 11 hours |
| 100kWh | About 9 hr 10 min | About 14 hr 20 min |
Vehicle compatibility
Specifications vary by model year and variant. We confirm the exact onboard AC limit before selecting hardware.
Charger selection
A myenergi Zappi 22kW, Fronius Wattpilot Home 22 or Tesla Wall Connector can all supply an 11kW vehicle correctly. The choice comes down to solar control, inverter integration, cable format, app quality and whether a future car could use the full 22kW.
Yes, if the property has three-phase power and enough spare capacity. An 11kW charge session draws 16 amps on each of the three phases. We confirm the supply, available switchboard space and total household load before recommending it.
Yes. An 11kW AC home charge requires three-phase supply. A single-phase Perth home normally tops out at about 7.4kW. If the house is single phase, a well-designed 7kW installation is usually better value than upgrading the entire supply just for the car.
Expect roughly 55 to 70km of range per hour, depending on the car. A 60kWh battery takes about five and a half hours from empty to full, while an 80kWh battery takes about seven and a half hours. Normal daily top-ups are much shorter.
It is faster, but not automatically better. For a 50km daily drive, 7kW replaces the energy in around 75 minutes and 11kW in roughly 45 to 50 minutes. The difference matters most for large batteries, high daily kilometres, short off-peak windows or two EV households.
The wall unit can often deliver up to 22kW, but the car controls what it accepts. Most three-phase EVs sold in Australia have an 11kW onboard AC charger, so a 22kW wallbox supplies 11kW to that car. Buying the higher-rated unit can still make sense for future vehicles.
Common Australian examples include many Tesla Model 3 and Model Y variants, BYD Seal, Kia EV5, EV6 and EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, Volvo EX30, Polestar 2 and many European EVs. The exact limit can vary by model year and variant, so we check the vehicle specification before quoting.
Mark was 100/10. Communication, price and most important quality and immaculate workmanship. We had an EV charger and full solar with battery installed. He worked his quote to fit our budget, sorted the silly admin with the energy companies, and staggered the install over two Saturdays to suit us. The battery in the garage is a work of art. I will recommend him 10 times over.
Received a call back from Mark who arranged everything. He was very knowledgeable on the myenergi Zappi charger and left me feeling really confident. The finished job looked mint, the garage was left spotless. Two weeks later I asked Mark to fit a 16kWh GoodWe battery and inverter. Once again the work was done professionally, on time and at a fantastic price.
Mark installed our new GoodWe 33 kWh battery system, upgraded our solar inverter and added additional panels. Friendly, professional and easy to deal with from start to finish. He took the time to explain how the new system works. It's refreshing to deal with a local electrician who genuinely cares. 5 stars!
Great service from Mark installing our EV charger. He arrived right on time, worked efficiently, and left everything very tidy and neat afterward. The installation itself is clean and professional, excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend.
They responded to my request for a quote faster than anyone else. They were competitive and turned up exactly when they said they would. Their work was great. All went very well. I would happily recommend Mark and his team to everyone. A great service.
I'm impressed by Mark. Service exceeded expectations. I had a full install with supplied EV wall charger. Price reasonable and communication impeccable. Thank you Mark!
I was very impressed that Mark contacted me very soon after I submitted a request for a quote to install my Zappi charger. The installation was extremely quick and it was obvious that Mark certainly knew what he was doing, to the extent that I asked him to replace all of our solar panels and install a new battery too.
Today Mark installed a new EV charger at my property and I couldn't be happier with the result. Mark communicated really well in the lead up to the job, so I always knew the plan. The install itself looks very professional and there was no mess left when the job was completed.
Mark did an amazing job installing the myenergi Zappi Glo EV charger. Great workmanship, very tidy and professional. He arrived on time with great communication throughout. I would definitely recommend him for any electrical needs.
