Rebate guideThe honest bit
What actually moves the price.
Usable capacity
Cost scales with kWh, but bigger is not always better. A battery sized past your evening usage just sits half empty.
Inverter situation
Retrofitting to an existing solar system is usually cheaper with an AC-coupled battery. New builds often suit an all-in-one hybrid.
Backup circuits
Whole-home backup costs more than essential-loads backup. Most Perth homes only need the fridge, lights and Wi-Fi protected.
Switchboard condition
Older boards sometimes need an upgrade to pass inspection. We check this in the consultation so it never appears as a surprise on install day.

Payback
When a battery pays for itself in Perth.
Perth's DEBS export rate pays cents for your excess solar. Using that power yourself at night is worth three to four times more. That gap is what pays the battery off.

FAQ
Solar battery cost questions
How much does a solar battery cost in Perth in 2026?+
Installed prices for a quality 10kWh to 13.5kWh battery in Perth range from about $6,500 to $13,000 before rebates, depending on brand and whether you need a new hybrid inverter. After the WA Residential Battery Scheme and federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebates, most households pay several thousand dollars less.
What rebates are available for batteries in WA?+
Two stack. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program cuts roughly 30% off the upfront cost, and the WA Residential Battery Scheme adds up to $1,300 for Synergy customers or $3,800 for Horizon Power customers. A 10kWh battery can attract around $5,000 in combined rebates. VPP participation is required for the WA rebate.
Is a solar battery worth it in Perth?+
For homes that export a lot of solar and use power after 4pm, usually yes. Perth's DEBS export rate is low, so storing your own power is worth far more than selling it. Typical payback is 5 to 8 years after rebates. We model it from your actual bills before recommending anything.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?+
Almost always. We AC-couple batteries like the Tesla Powerwall 3 or Sigenergy SigenStor to existing inverters, so your current system stays exactly as it is. Some older setups need a small reconfiguration to qualify for the WA rebate, which we check during the quote.
What size battery do I need?+
Match it to your evening usage, not your solar size. A household using 8 to 12kWh after sunset suits a 10kWh battery. Bigger evening loads, a pool pump or an EV often justify 13.5kWh or more. Try the calculator on this page for a quick sizing guide.
Do batteries work in a blackout?+
Yes, if the system is designed for it. We wire essential circuits like the fridge, lights and Wi-Fi to a backup output so they keep running when the grid drops. Not every battery includes backup as standard, so we confirm this at design stage.
How long do home batteries last?+
Quality LFP batteries carry 10-year product warranties and are typically rated for 6,000+ cycles, which is well beyond 15 years of daily use. Every Candela install also carries our 10-year workmanship warranty.
Who installs the battery?+
Our own licensed WA electricians (EC# 15317), accredited with the battery manufacturers. To claim the WA rebate the install must be done by an accredited vendor on the Plenti directory, and the rebate is applied as an upfront discount on your quote.
