Tesla Wall Connector installation cost in Perth: what you really pay
$550 for the unit is the easy number. The install is where the range lives. Here is exactly what changes the total.
Tesla lists the Wall Connector on their Australian site at around $850. That price catches attention, and it should - it is the best value premium charger on the market. What is less obvious is what the installed number ends up being, which is the number that actually matters.
The typical Perth install
For a straightforward single phase install with the switchboard in the garage, most Tesla Wall Connector jobs sit at $1,400 to $1,700 all in, including the unit itself. That covers the hardware, a fresh circuit, a Type A RCD, commissioning, and the WiFi setup.
For three phase 22kW installs, budget $2,200 to $2,800 including the unit. Roughly a third of the Perth homes we quote have three phase available.
What pushes it higher
- Long cable run (over 15 metres): add $200 to $600 depending on the wall and slab conditions.
- Older switchboard needing a service upgrade: $400 to $1,200 depending on the board.
- External wall install requiring conduit paint or render make good: $150 to $400.
- Load management setup to protect the main breaker on a smaller service: usually included, occasionally $150.
What Tesla's own installer network won't tell you
Tesla's referral network sends leads to a rotating list of contractors. The Tesla approved training is genuinely good, but who actually turns up varies. Ask any electrician to show you photos of a Tesla install they finished last month before booking.
