How much does EV charger installation cost in Perth in 2025

The real numbers, broken down: hardware, cable run, switchboard work, RCD, commissioning. Where the price actually comes from and how to keep it honest.

This is the single most searched question we see, so it deserves a proper answer. There is no single price for an EV charger installation in Perth, but there is a real range, and once you understand what pushes a job up or down inside it, quotes stop feeling mysterious.

The five things that make up your price

  • The unit itself. Anywhere from $800 for an entry level single phase charger up to $2,200 for a premium three phase smart unit.
  • Cable run. Priced per metre. A 3 metre run from a garage switchboard is trivial. A 25 metre run through a slab or up a two storey wall is not.
  • Switchboard work. New breaker, new RCD, maybe a service upgrade if the board is old or full.
  • Compliance and commissioning. RCM certificate, EnergySafety notification, testing to AS/NZS 3000, app pairing and load management setup.
  • Complexity. Rendered walls that need reinstating, second storey mounts, external conduit painting, all add labour.

The honest Perth ranges

Straightforward single phase 7.4kW install in a modern home with the switchboard in the garage: $1,400 to $1,800 all in. This covers roughly 60 percent of the jobs we quote.

Three phase 22kW install with a medium cable run: $2,400 to $3,200. Common in new builds and premium suburbs where three phase to the property is already there.

Long cable run (over 20 metres) or an old switchboard needing upgrade: add $600 to $1,500 depending on scope.

Commercial or multi bay installs are quoted individually. As a rule of thumb, per bay costs drop as bay count rises because switchboard work is shared across the units.

What a good quote looks like

Line itemised. You should see hardware, cable, switchboard work, and labour called out separately. Not a single lumped number.

Fixed, not indicative. A licensed sparky who has seen your switchboard photos can quote firmly. Anyone who insists on 'from' pricing without a site check has left themselves a variation door open.

Includes the compliance paperwork. If it does not mention RCM, testing and notification, ask why.
