Job story

One garage wall, one day,
one very tidy Zappi GLO.

Here is exactly how a Candela EV charger install runs, from the first photo of a switchboard to a car pulling power off the roof. No mystery, no surprises on the day.

The process, start to finish

Step 01

What the customer wanted

A new EV in the driveway and a granny lead doing all the work. They wanted a proper wall charger that could soak up daytime solar, sit tidy on the garage wall, and not look like a science project. Single car, single phase, home most evenings.

  • Existing 10A lead too slow
  • Rooftop solar already installed
  • Wanted a clean, flush finish

Step 02

We quoted the need, not a guess

Photos of the switchboard and the wall came through the online quote form, then a short call to confirm cable route, board capacity and where the car parks. That gave us the run length, the breaker size and the mounting height before anyone got in a van.

  • Switchboard photo review
  • 15 minute scoping call
  • Cable route agreed up front

Step 03

Switchboard first

Power down, board opened, and a dedicated 32A circuit added on its own RCBO. Existing circuits stayed untouched and labelled. This is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether the charger runs safely for the next decade.

  • Dedicated circuit
  • RCBO protected
  • Circuits relabelled

Step 04

The run and the mount

Surface conduit clipped straight and level off the board, a single sweep into the unit, and the GLO mounted at handle height so the cable holsters without dragging. No loops, no sag, no drilled holes where they were not needed.

  • Straight conduit run
  • Flush wall mount
  • Cable holstered clean

Step 05

Test, commission, hand over

Insulation resistance, earth continuity and RCD trip times all tested and recorded. App paired on the customer's phone, solar diversion switched on, and a live charge session run before we left so they could see it working.

  • Full electrical test
  • App paired on site
  • Certificate issued

On the tools

The bits of the job most people never see, plus the finish they actually live with.

Electric car plugged into a wall mounted charger in a Perth garage
Finished: car parked, plugged in, conduit run tight to the wall
Electrician installing a new breaker inside a residential switchboard
Dedicated circuit going into the board
Zappi GLO charger viewed from a low angle on the garage wall
Mounted at handle height off the conduit sweep
Close up of the Zappi GLO connector holstered in the unit
Connector holstered, status light green
Completed myenergi Zappi GLO install on a grey brick wall
Handover shot, same day
Conduit run from the switchboard across to the Zappi GLO charger
Board to charger, one clean run
Charging app showing a live session on a phone in front of the installed charger
App paired on site, live session before we left

Why the GLO was the right call here

Charges on your own solar

Eco+ mode follows the surplus your panels export and pushes it into the car instead of the grid.

7kW single phase

Roughly 40km of range an hour, so an overnight top up covers almost any Perth commute.

Scheduled off peak

Set the app to charge inside your cheap window and forget about it.

Tethered and tidy

Cable lives on the unit. No boot clutter, no wet lead on the garage floor.
