Is there an EV charger rebate in WA in 2025
The direct rebate on hardware ended, but two other schemes still put money back in your pocket. Here is what actually exists right now.
The state government's ZEV Rebate on the vehicle itself has finished, and the direct home charger subsidy that ran briefly through 2023 is closed. But there are still two schemes worth knowing about in 2025 that reduce your out of pocket EV charging cost.
1. Synergy's Charge Up Rebate (Distributor Managed EV Charger scheme)
Synergy currently offers a bill credit of up to $500 for households that install an eligible smart charger and agree to let it be remotely managed during rare grid stress events. Management is essentially never used in practice, but the credit is real.
Eligible chargers include most OCPP capable smart units we install: Zappi, Wallbox, certain Ocular models and the newer Tesla Wall Connector firmware. Not every charger qualifies, so check the current list before purchasing.
2. Small Technology Certificates on solar (indirect)
Adding or expanding solar as part of your EV setup still generates STCs, which reduce the upfront cost of the panels by around 30 percent. Not a charger rebate per se, but it is the pathway to the biggest lifetime saving because the charger becomes fed by free daytime power.
What is no longer available
The federal home charger rebates from the 2022 to 2024 climate incentive rounds have all closed. Any provider still advertising them is running old copy - ask for the eligibility document before booking.
